Williamsport lies along the West Branch Susquehanna River in north-central Pennsylvania and serves as the county seat of Lycoming County. Forested ridges rise around the river valley, framing a compact downtown, historic residential districts and nearby college campuses. The city boomed as the “Lumber Capital of the World” in the 19th century, when timber wealth produced Millionaires’ Row and helped shape its architecture.
