Krum is a city in western Denton County, Texas, located about 7 miles northwest of Denton and approximately 45 miles northwest of downtown Dallas within the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Situated on the gently rolling prairies of North Texas at an elevation of roughly 720 feet, Krum developed as a railroad and agricultural community and today serves as a small but rapidly growing residential city with close economic ties to the Denton and DFW urban areas. The city is intersected by U.S. Highway 380, providing regional access, while its surroundings remain characterized by farmland, ranchland and expanding suburban development. According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Krum had a population of 5,551 and occupies approximately 4.5 square miles. Its location combines a rural setting with convenient access to the employment, educational and commercial centers of the larger Denton region.
