Plano, Collin County, Texas, USA

Plano is a city in North Texas, located primarily in Collin County with a small portion extending west into Denton County. It lies about 17 miles north of downtown Dallas and forms part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area, adjoining Richardson to the south, Allen and Parker to the north and Frisco and The Colony to the west. The city’s generally level terrain is crossed by Rowlett Creek and several tributaries, with extensive parkland, trails and suburban development replacing much of the area’s former Blackland Prairie and agricultural landscape. U.S. Route 75, the President George Bush Turnpike, the Dallas North Tollway and Sam Rayburn Tollway provide its main regional transportation links. Plano is a major corporate and employment center whose economy includes technology, telecommunications, finance, healthcare and the headquarters or major operations of companies such as Toyota Motor North America, Frito-Lay and JCPenney. Plano covers 71.69 square miles of land, had 285,494 residents at the 2020 census and estimated its 2025 population at about 301,320.
