Location overview

Pleasanton is a city in Atascosa County in South Texas, northeast of Jourdanton and south of San Antonio. Founded in 1858, it served as the county seat until that role moved to Jourdanton in 1910. Rail connections in the early 20th century helped link the community with San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Cattle ranching, agriculture and petroleum have influenced the local economy, and the city’s Cowboy Homecoming tradition reflects its association with cattle drives.
