Des Moines is a waterfront city in King County, Washington, between Seattle and Tacoma. Its marina lies beside a shopping district on Puget Sound. Beaches, public parks, fishing piers and a boardwalk provide access to the waterfront. The community shares its name with the Iowa city from which a group of early settlers came. Highline College is among its educational institutions.
