Washington is a town in northern Door County, Wisconsin, encompassing Washington Island and several neighboring islands. Washington Island is the largest of the town’s six islands, which also include Detroit, Rock, Plum, Pilot and Hog. The island community lies about seven miles beyond the tip of the Door Peninsula. A vehicle ferry and a town-owned public airport connect it with the mainland. Its landscape supports year-round residents, seasonal recreation and island tourism.
