Location overview

Cheyenne is Wyoming’s capital and the seat of Laramie County on the southeastern High Plains. It began in 1867 as a Union Pacific Railroad town and rapidly became a supply and transportation center. The railroad’s legacy remains visible in the historic depot and downtown street grid. State government, military history and the annual Frontier Days rodeo give the city a civic and cultural role beyond its origins as a rail stop.
