Delano Public School District is a school district centered on Delano in southeastern Wright County, about 30 miles west of Minneapolis. Its boundary links Delano with portions of nearby communities including Corcoran, Greenfield, Hamel, Independence, Loretto and Medina, spanning rural and suburban areas in Wright and Hennepin counties. The district’s schools are grouped on a campus east of Delano’s historic downtown and the South Fork Crow River. Local public education developed alongside the river-and-rail community incorporated in 1876, while a major building project completed in 2018 added an intermediate school and reshaped the campus. About 2,400 students attend schools within the district.
