Northern Mariana Islands, USA

The Northern Mariana Islands are a self-governing U.S. commonwealth composed of 14 islands in the western Pacific. Saipan is the capital and largest population center, while Tinian and Rota are the other principal inhabited islands. The commonwealth recorded 47,329 residents in the 2020 Census, down from 53,883 in 2010. Its tropical islands combine volcanic peaks, limestone terraces, coral reefs and culturally important coastal environments. Tourism and government are major parts of the economy, alongside construction, retail trade, transportation and small-scale agriculture and fishing.
