City of Algonac

The City of Algonac is the municipal government of Algonac on Michigan’s St. Clair River. Its elected council and city staff oversee public works, land use, parks, water service and other local functions. The city operates a water filtration plant that also supplies Clay Township and parts of Cottrellville Township. Fire protection is a city department, while police service is provided through a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office substation and assigned deputies. Municipal parks and riverfront facilities reflect Algonac’s long connection to boating and the waterway. The government maintains public parks, including a riverfront park overlooking commercial vessel traffic.
