City of Cape May Water and Sewer Department

The City of Cape May Water and Sewer Department is the municipal utility responsible for drinking-water and wastewater services in Cape May, New Jersey. It supplies more than 4,300 water accounts in the city and neighboring areas, including West Cape May, Cape May Point, portions of Lower Township and the U.S. Coast Guard training center. The department operates wells, a desalination plant, storage facilities and a distribution network designed for the peninsula’s coastal conditions. Its sewer operations collect wastewater for treatment and maintain the associated mains, pumping equipment and customer connections. The utility also manages metering, billing, maintenance, regulatory testing and long-term improvements to the two systems.
