City of Coweta

The City of Coweta is the municipal government for a growing community in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, southeast of Tulsa. Coweta began as a Creek Nation settlement and trading center and was incorporated after the arrival of the railroad in the early 20th century. The city operates under a council-manager system in which elected officials set policy and professional staff oversee daily operations. Its departments provide police and fire protection, planning, streets, parks, code enforcement, utilities and other local services. Rapid residential growth and the city’s place within the Tulsa metropolitan area shape its infrastructure, development and community programs.
