City of Huntington

The City of Huntington is the municipal government of Huntington, West Virginia, on the Ohio River near the Kentucky and Ohio borders. Founded in 1871 as the western terminus of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, Huntington grew into an industrial and transportation center. It is the principal city of a tri-state metropolitan area and is home to Marshall University and one of the nation’s largest inland river ports. The city spans portions of Cabell and Wayne counties and provides public safety, public works, planning, parks and administrative services. Rail, river commerce, health care, education and regional services continue to shape its economy and civic identity.
