Organization overview

The City of Lancaster is the municipal government of Lancaster, the seat of Fairfield County in central Ohio. Its elected officials and departments provide public safety, streets, parks, development, planning and administrative services. The city directly operates five utilities: natural gas, drinking water, wastewater treatment, stormwater drainage and refuse collection. A utilities collection office handles billing for these services, while specialized divisions maintain plants, networks and customer support. Lancaster’s municipal gas service dates to local wells in the 19th century, a distinguishing part of its public infrastructure history. City Hall on East Main Street coordinates local government business for residents and businesses.
