The City of Palouse government serves the community of Palouse in Whitman County, Washington, with municipal offices located at City Hall on East Main Street. Palouse was first settled in 1869, its townsite was established by W.P. Breeding in 1875, and the city was incorporated in 1888. The city operates under a mayor-council form of government, with an elected mayor and City Council responsible for local policy and municipal administration. City services include water and sewer utilities, police, fire and emergency medical response, parks, zoning, cemetery operations and other public works functions. Palouse had an estimated population of 1,029 in 2024.
