City of Winston-Salem

The City of Winston-Salem is the municipal government serving Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the seat of Forsyth County. Its departments provide police and fire protection, streets and sanitation, planning and inspections, parks, transportation and other local services. Voters elect a mayor citywide and eight council members representing individual wards, with elections held every four years. The council appoints a city manager to carry out its policies and oversee daily operations. The government dates to the 1913 consolidation of Winston and Salem and maintains City Hall at 101 North Main Street.
