Clayton County Water Authority

Clayton County Water Authority is a public authority created by the Georgia General Assembly in 1955 to provide water and sewer services in Clayton County, Georgia. It now provides drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services to residents and businesses across Clayton County and its six incorporated cities.

According to CCWA’s official service profile, the utility operates five raw-water reservoirs and three water-production facilities with combined capacity to produce up to 42 million gallons of potable water per day. It also operates three water-reclamation facilities capable of treating up to 38.4 million gallons of wastewater per day and maintains county stormwater infrastructure.

CCWA uses constructed treatment wetlands as a final water-reclamation stage and returns treated water to its surface-water supply system. This reuse system supports water availability in a county with limited natural water resources.
