Columbus Water Works

Columbus Water Works is the public water and wastewater utility serving Columbus, Georgia, and nearby Fort Benning. Its operations depend on information technology and operational technology, including SCADA, billing systems and computerized treatment and distribution controls. In a March 2026 bond disclosure, the utility reported three cyber incidents during the preceding five years; none caused extortion, a data breach or operational-system impact, although one 2025 incident produced an approximately $60,000 insurance-deductible expense. Its 2025 community report also documented targeted security enhancements, emergency-response planning and resilience testing.
