Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City

Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City is a nonprofit blood-services division of New York Blood Center, Inc., based in Kansas City, Missouri. It opened in 1958 at 4040 Main Street after physicians, hospitals and civic leaders organized a centralized blood supply for the region. The center supplies blood products to hospitals across the Kansas City metropolitan area, eastern Kansas and western Missouri. Its services also include reference immunohematology testing and therapeutic apheresis for hospital patients. Volunteer donations at donor centers and community drives support its collection work. It participates in the New York Blood Center Enterprises network.
