Institute of American Indian Arts

The Institute of American Indian Arts is a tribal college in the Santa Fe, New Mexico, area devoted to contemporary Native American and Alaska Native arts. Founded in 1962 as a high school, it developed into a higher education institution serving Native and non-Native students. Its programs combine arts education with the study and expression of Indigenous cultures, and it is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The institute also operates the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts in downtown Santa Fe, extending its work to public exhibitions and scholarship. As a land-grant institution, it offers community training and outreach rooted in traditional ecological knowledge.
