Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation

The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation is a state agency responsible for property assessment, business registration and several tax-relief programs. Its real property division values more than 2 million property accounts used by counties and municipalities to calculate local property taxes. The agency’s business services division maintains formation and registration records for corporations, limited liability companies and other entities. It also administers homeowner, renter and related property-tax credit programs.
