Memphis-Shelby County Schools

Memphis-Shelby County Schools is Tennessee’s largest public school district, serving students in Memphis and other parts of Shelby County. Its official profile says the district serves more than 100,000 students at more than 200 schools. The district offers prekindergarten through grade 12 instruction, school choice, special education, student transportation, career and technical education, and other family services. A school board oversees the system, whose central office is in Memphis. Its attendance area is distinct from the city and county boundaries because separate suburban districts operate elsewhere in Shelby County.
