Finalsite

Finalsite’s Connect, Mass Notifications and Messages XR Enterprise services suffered a multiday outage in October 2025, interrupting school alerts across several states. The company first described emergency maintenance and partial restoration, then in November acknowledged a cybersecurity incident and third-party investigation. Its public notices did not establish ransomware, data theft or the initial intrusion method.
Internal business, administrative, operational, or staff-facing systems were unavailable.
We reported Oct. 8 that Finalsite school notification tools were disrupted in several states while multiple customer districts described a breach or security incident. Finalsite’s contemporaneous status record described emergency maintenance and phased restoration but did not identify cyber causation. A later company bulletin expressly called the event a cybersecurity incident following an outside investigation. This subsequent primary source supports confirmed cyber involvement, without establishing a mechanism or data exposure.
Finalsite said Connect, Mass Notifications and Messages XR Enterprise were unavailable beginning Oct. 5. During phased Oct. 6–7 restoration, text and voice delivery remained degraded, and customers were directed to email or backup channels. An earlier Connect SMS incident began Oct. 2; the available records do not establish whether its initial delivery failure and the later cybersecurity incident had the same technical cause. Later service updates documented continuing limited functionality. The company’s Nov. 5 bulletin said several administrative and phone features remained disabled for security.
The original article identified affected users including Memphis-Shelby County Schools in Tennessee, West Irondequoit Central School District in New York and the Onslow County Water and Sewer Authority in North Carolina, plus other eastern North Carolina districts. The customer list is not exhaustive; this registry entry maps Finalsite’s Glastonbury headquarters as a place anchor and names specific customer effects in the narrative.
Finalsite closed its main emergency-maintenance status Oct. 7, but later service restrictions continued. The final date when every affected notification feature returned is not established in the reviewed sources. The incident is presumed operationally resolved by this review. The vendor did not disclose an intrusion vector, attacker, ransomware, exfiltration, affected records or customer data loss in the located notices.
