Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning

Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning is the statewide governance system for Mississippi’s eight public universities. Its 12-member Board of Trustees sets system policy, oversees university leadership and coordinates standards for academic and financial accountability. The institutions provide undergraduate and graduate education, research and public service across the state. The system also has oversight responsibilities involving the University of Mississippi Medical Center, linking higher education governance with a major health and research institution. Its central role is to balance the distinct missions of the universities with common policy, stewardship of public resources and statewide educational needs.
