Organization overview

PeaceHealth is a nonprofit Catholic health system based in Vancouver, Washington, serving communities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. It operates medical centers, critical access hospitals and medical clinics that provide inpatient, outpatient, primary and specialty care. Its roots lie in the hospital ministry begun by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Bellingham in 1890. The organization adopted the PeaceHealth name in 1994 and continues under lay leadership. In northwestern Washington, its facilities include St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, United General Medical Center in Sedro-Woolley and Peace Island Medical Center in Friday Harbor. Its clinics also work with independent providers, including Mt. Baker Imaging, to offer diagnostic services.
