Location overview

Lynden is a city in northern Whatcom County, Washington, about five miles south of the Canadian border. It lies in the Nooksack River valley, north of Bellingham, in an area long inhabited by the Nooksack people. The city incorporated in 1891 as logging gave way to an agricultural economy centered on dairy and berry farming. Dutch immigration beginning in the late 19th century shaped its churches, schools and community traditions. Front Street developed as the historic commercial center.
