San Diego Community College District

The San Diego Community College District is a public community college system serving the city of San Diego and surrounding communities. It operates San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College, San Diego Miramar College and the San Diego College of Continuing Education, which offers noncredit adult education and workforce training at several campuses. The district traces its origins to junior college classes established in 1914 and became independent from the San Diego Unified School District in 1973. It is governed by an elected five-member Board of Trustees and provides associate degrees, transfer education, career training and continuing education. The district is one of California’s largest community college systems.
