Its history dates to 1888, when the Ogden Standard published its first edition; it adopted its current name after merging with the Morning Examiner in 1920. It was acquired in 2018 by Ogden Newspapers, a family-owned media company based in West Virginia that also owns the Daily Herald in Provo.
