Town of Ashby

Organization overview

Town of Ashby logo

The Town of Ashby is the municipal government for a rural community in northern Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on the New Hampshire border. Its landscape includes forests, farms, ponds and scattered residential development near the western edge of the greater Boston region. Residents rely on local schools, public safety, roads and civic institutions while also traveling to nearby employment and service centers. Ashby was incorporated in 1767 after developing from colonial settlement in the surrounding frontier. The town’s meetinghouse tradition, historic center and open land preserve much of its New England village character.
