Wise County Sheriff's Office

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Wise County, Texas, serving the county’s incorporated communities, unincorporated areas and rural population from its headquarters in Decatur. Led by the elected sheriff, the office is responsible for patrol operations, criminal investigations, jail administration, court security, civil process, warrant service and emergency response, while also supporting regional public safety initiatives with municipal, state and federal law enforcement partners. In addition to enforcing state law and county ordinances, the Sheriff’s Office manages the Wise County Jail and provides security for the county courts and other government facilities. Its jurisdiction covers approximately 923 square miles in North Texas, an area that has experienced rapid population growth as part of the expanding Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan region.
