Luminis Health cyber incident disrupts patient systems

A cybersecurity incident disrupted systems across Luminis Health beginning Aug. 31, leaving MyChart and CareConnectNow unavailable and affecting patient care. WBAL-TV reported that patients were rerouted, a radiation treatment was postponed, a time-sensitive chemotherapy infusion was canceled and imaging results needed for a treatment decision were delayed. Luminis hospitals remained open and the health system continued providing care, but it was still determining the scope Sept. 9. The mechanism, data impact, ransomware involvement and responsible actor remained unresolved.
