Autauga County, Alabama, USA

Autauga County is a county in central Alabama, immediately northwest of Montgomery and within the Montgomery metropolitan area. Prattville is the county seat and largest city, while other communities include Autaugaville, Billingsley and Pine Level. The county’s terrain transitions from the rolling uplands and forests of Alabama’s Piedmont region in the north to lower, more agricultural land toward the Alabama River in the south; the Autauga and Mulberry creek systems drain much of the area. Interstate 65 crosses the county near Prattville, connecting it with Montgomery and Birmingham. Established in 1818 while Alabama was still a territory, Autauga County covers about 594 square miles of land and had 58,805 residents at the 2020 census.
