Gunnison County is in the mountainous country of central-western Colorado. Established March 9, 1877, it has Gunnison as its county seat. Other communities include Crested Butte, Marble and Pitkin. National forests, Bureau of Land Management lands and Curecanti National Recreation Area occupy much of the county.
