Decatur County, Georgia, USA

Decatur County is in southwestern Georgia, with Bainbridge as its county seat. The Flint River runs through the area and helped shape Bainbridge’s development as a river town. The county was established in 1823. Agriculture, timber and the turpentine industry were important to its early economy. Railroad connections later linked the area more closely to surrounding regions.
