County or equivalent
Location overview
Cassia County lies in south-central Idaho along the Utah and Nevada borders. Burley is the county seat and largest city, while Albion, Declo, Malta, Oakley and rural communities occupy the Snake River Plain and surrounding uplands. Irrigated farmland contrasts with volcanic terrain, desert basins and the granite formations of City of Rocks National Reserve. Cassia County was created in 1879 during Idaho’s territorial period. Agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, transportation and outdoor recreation shape the local economy.
