Location overview
Minidoka County lies in south-central Idaho on the Snake River Plain within the state’s Magic Valley. Rupert is the county seat, while Heyburn, Paul and Acequia are among the communities surrounded by irrigated farmland and open volcanic country. The Snake River and a network of canals transformed an arid landscape into one of Idaho’s productive agricultural regions. The county was created in 1913 from part of Lincoln County. Potatoes, sugar beets, grain, dairying, food processing and regional transportation are important to its economy.
