Municipality
Location overview
Rupert is a city in south-central Idaho and the county seat of Minidoka County. Its historic town square anchors a compact center surrounded by irrigated farmland on the Snake River Plain. The community was founded in the early 20th century as railroad construction and the Minidoka irrigation project encouraged settlement in the Magic Valley. Rupert’s broad streets and central square reflect the planned character of that development era. Agriculture, food processing, manufacturing and regional commerce remain closely tied to the surrounding countryside.
