Passaic County, New Jersey, USA
County or equivalent
Location overview

Passaic County stretches across northeastern New Jersey from the urban Paterson area toward the forested Highlands in the northwest. Southern communities are more densely built, while northern ridges and valleys contain reservoirs, parks and protected watershed land. Paterson is the county seat and lies near the Passaic River’s Great Falls. The contrast between city neighborhoods and mountain landscapes is a defining feature of the county. Its northern municipalities include West Milford, Ringwood and Wanaque within the Highlands region.
