Doña Ana County is in south central New Mexico along the Rio Grande and the border with Texas and Mexico. Las Cruces is the county seat and its largest city. The Mesilla Valley, Organ Mountains and surrounding desert ranges give the county a varied landscape. Communities grew along the river and historic travel routes, and irrigation supported agriculture in the valley. Mesilla, Hatch and Sunland Park are among the county’s other municipalities.
