Oklahoma County is in central Oklahoma’s Red Bed Plains, with Oklahoma City as its seat. The Deep Fork and North Canadian rivers drain the county. It was formed in 1890 as County Two, one of the original counties of Oklahoma Territory. Its communities include Edmond, Midwest City, Del City and Bethany. Rail transportation, petroleum development and manufacturing helped transform an agricultural economy into a major urban center.
