Wagoner County lies in northeastern Oklahoma on the eastern side of the Tulsa metropolitan area, with Wagoner as its county seat and Coweta and parts of Broken Arrow among its largest communities. The Arkansas and Verdigris rivers, Fort Gibson Lake and rolling wooded prairie give the county a varied landscape of reservoirs, farmland and fast-growing suburbs. The region lies within the Muscogee and Cherokee nations, and the county was created at Oklahoma statehood in 1907 from lands with deep Indigenous and territorial history. Wagoner County had about 93,300 residents in 2025. Manufacturing, logistics, construction, retail, agriculture, recreation and commuting to Tulsa support its modern economy.
