Beaver County is located in southwestern Pennsylvania, northwest of Pittsburgh, with the borough of Beaver serving as its county seat. The county was created in 1800 from portions of Allegheny and Washington counties and took its name from the Beaver River, which joins the Ohio River near the center of the county.
