Location overview

Fort Lee is a U.S. Army installation in Prince George County, Virginia, between Petersburg and Hopewell, south of Richmond. The site began as Camp Lee during World War I on former farmland and later became a permanent military post. It stands near the James and Appomattox river corridor in a region shaped by colonial settlement and the Petersburg campaign of the Civil War. Today the installation includes the Combined Arms Support Command and Army sustainment training institutions. Its museums and historic sites reflect the long military use of the area.
