Mira Mesa, San Diego, San Diego County, California, USA

Mira Mesa is a large community in north-central San Diego between Interstates 805 and 15, about 16 miles north of downtown. Los Peñasquitos Canyon borders it on the north, while Marine Corps Air Station Miramar lies to the south, giving the area a mix of suburban neighborhoods, canyons and employment districts. San Diego annexed the area in 1958, and rapid residential development began in the late 1960s as the city expanded northward. Mira Mesa is home to roughly 80,000 people and is one of San Diego’s most culturally diverse communities. Technology, biotechnology, manufacturing, retail, education and recreation all contribute to its contemporary character.
