Location overview
Greenwich is a town in southwestern Connecticut on Long Island Sound. Its waterfront supported farming, tide-powered mills, fishing and maritime trade before rail connections expanded in the 19th century. The opening of the New York and New Haven Railroad in 1848 encouraged residential growth tied to New York City. Historic parks and former estates preserve parts of the town’s coastal and inland landscape.
