Milford is a coastal city in south-central Connecticut, between the New Haven and Bridgeport areas. Its harbor meets the Wepawaug River near the historic town center. English settlement began in 1639, and the community later developed shipbuilding, oystering, manufacturing and retail activity. A long town green, shoreline parks, beaches and access to Long Island Sound remain prominent features of the city.
