Midway, Liberty County, Georgia, USA

Midway is a small city in Liberty County on Georgia’s coastal plain, roughly midway between Savannah and Brunswick. Pine forests, tidal waterways and nearby salt marshes surround its compact settlement along the historic coastal route. Congregationalist settlers established the community in the 18th century, and the Midway Church and cemetery preserve connections to Georgia’s colonial and Revolutionary history. The city remains much smaller than nearby Hinesville and is closely tied to the wider coastal region. Heritage tourism, local services, forestry and commuting contribute to its present-day character.
