Plainfield is a town in southeastern Hendricks County, about 15 miles southwest of downtown Indianapolis and close to Indianapolis International Airport. White Lick Creek and an extensive trail system give the community a green corridor amid its suburban and industrial development. Laid out along the National Road in 1839, Plainfield was strongly shaped by Quaker settlers and became the home of the Western Yearly Meeting of Friends in 1858. The town had about 38,600 residents in 2025. Logistics and distribution are major parts of its economy, joined by manufacturing, health care, retail and a historic Main Street district.
