Rumford is a town in Oxford County in western Maine. Its downtown developed around Rumford Falls on the Androscoggin River. Incorporated in 1800, the town grew substantially with the development of rail connections and the paper industry in the late 19th century. The mill and the Strathglass Park housing district reflect that industrial history. Surrounding hills and forests also support outdoor recreation.
