Greenville is a city in Montcalm County, Michigan, on the Flat River northeast of Grand Rapids. A traditional downtown, residential neighborhoods, parks and nearby lakes give it the character of a small regional center. Settled in the 1840s, Greenville later became closely associated with refrigerator manufacturing and adopted the nickname Refrigerator Capital of the World. Its industrial history remains visible even as the economy has diversified. Manufacturing, health care, retail, education and services connect the city with surrounding rural communities.
